| 12 09 2010 - 12 09 2010 Dublin Run to Africa 5k or 10k, Dublin, St Anne's Park, Raheny |
You can volunteer to raise funds and travel to Africa on one of our projects. We have lots of ideas for fund-raising and are always at hand to help and advice in many ways.
How it works:
This year we looking for volunteers to raise funds on our behalf and come with us to Kenya in August, Tanzania in September and Malawi in October for a stay of 10 days. We need volunteers with such skills block laying, carpentry, welding as well as health care professionals, sports trainers, accountants, teachers, dressmakers, musicians and dramatists. We need people with computer skills, home economics knowledge and anyone with energy and enthusiasm. We have more specific information on our individual programmes under our PROJECTS section and you can read about our past work in SUCCESS STORIES.
Each volunteer must complete an application form and submit a deposit of €500 to secure their place on their chosen project. Once their references are checked and everything is in order, they receive their letter of acceptance which will help them in their fund-raising along with a list of necessary Visa and Vaccination requirements.
About 6 weeks prior to departure, a Volunteers Meeting is held and all the volunteers are expected to atten to meet their team and previous volunteers. Details of the journey and what to expect, what to bring and how to prepare are discussed and the experiences of previous volunteers are shared.
We set a fund-raising target for each project (€4500) which covers travel expenses, transfers, hotel, meals & water. The balance goes directly towards the capital costs of the Playing for Life projects.
We are at hand to help you with your fundraising with advice, posters, buckets, t-shirts etc and have a page of fundraising idea's following this.
